When organising your own street party, if your event requires a possible road closure you will need to seek permission by informing Staffordshire County Council. They don’t charge for road closures for residential street parties that do not affect a classified road, bus route or traffic sensitive route. Council prepares to pay Energy Rebate following Government announcement

Cannock Chase Council is currently preparing to issue over 41,000 payments of £150 to residential properties falling within council tax bands A to D. The £150 will not have to be paid back.

This follows the recent Government announcement to use the Council Tax system to make this one-off payment to households most likely to be affected by the current increases in energy costs.

The Council has issued guidance on how the scheme will work and how the payments are to be made.  

Cabinet listens to residents’ concerns over future of Pye Green Community Centre

Cabinet members at Cannock Chase Council have listened to concerns made by residents about the plans of Hednesford Town Council to transfer the lease of the Pye Green Community Centre to the 1st Hednesford Scouts.

At its meeting this evening, Cabinet decided against allowing the town council to transfer the lease. They believe the lease should remain with the town council so the popular centre continues to provide benefit to the wider community. 

Views sought for new strategy for private sector homes

Cannock Chase Council is seeking views on its proposed Private Sector Housing Strategy which covers privately rented, owner-occupied and Registered Provider Housing. 

With the size of the private rented sector having seen large increases over the last 10 years as more people rent the homes they live in; a new strategy has become especially important and needed.
