Visit the Historic Town Centres, Shops and Shopping

Cannock Chase offers three main town centres - Cannock, Hednesford and Rugeley. This section will provide you with information about these towns, what improvements are being made and local schemes that are operating in the area.

Cannock

Cannock, on the southern edge of the Chase, offers a wide variety of choices to the discerning shopper from shopping malls, independent retailers and a traditional street market on Tuesdays and Fridays.

In the heart of Cannock’s conservation area, a mix of bars and cafes complement the other town centre attractions.

Funding has been secured from the Government to rejuvenate parts of Cannock Town Centre - for more information follow the link to the Levelling Up Fund - Cannock Town Centre project page.

Hednesford

Hednesford, offers a variety of specialist and traditional shops and cafes and is the ideal starting point for visitors to the area as it is the gateway to the Chase.

Hednesford is also home to the Museum of Cannock Chase, which illustrates the rich mining heritage of the area and offers an Information Point for visitors.

Rugeley

Rugeley, nestling on the north side of the Chase, has been a busy market town since the 13th Century. Throughout the town centre, major retail chains mix with the small friendly locally-owned shops along with a street market on Thursdays. The Trent and Mersey canal flows through the town adding to the peaceful setting and providing an alternative means of access.
