Cannock Embroidery
In 2001 Chadsmoor Tapestry Group undertook the mammoth task of creating an 11ft by 6ft 3D tapestry dedicated to the heritage of Cannock and Cannock Chase. The tapestry took the group six years to complete with the group learning new skills and techniques as well as becoming more aware of their surroundings.
This unique tapestry framed by oak trees features images from Cannock’s past and present and also flowers and animals found on Cannock Chase. Using silk fabric and silk threads the falling leaves with sepia canvas work images represent Cannock’s past whilst the black and white images inside the bandstand represent Cannock’s present with the leaves and flowers of the lime cascading over the top of the bandstand representing the lime trees surrounding the ancient bowling green. Set in the roof of the bandstand is the Armorial Bearings of Cannock Chase.
The Cannock Embroidery can be viewed at Cannock Chase Council's Civic Offices, please contact Reception staff for access on 01543 462621. Viewing times: Monday – Friday 9am – 4pm

Cycling on Cannock Chase
Cannock Chase is the premier location for mountain biking in the Midlands with routes to suit all ages and abilities. For serious mountain bikers two red graded trails ‘Follow the Dog’ and the ‘Monkey Trail’ have been built in partnership with local volunteer group ‘Chase Trails’ to offer riders an exciting challenging ride while minimising conflict with other users and the impact of the landscape. Mountain bikers are asked to show consideration to other forest users whilst on shared tracks and to avoid the more sensitive areas of Cannock Chase such as the areas of open heathland.
