Following the successful relaunch of the Street Market, Bescot Promotions have confirmed an additional market day in the run up to Christmas.

The extra market day will take place on Monday 21 December, will be in addition to the Tuesday and Friday markets, which are open every week from 9am until 4pm.

Cannock Street Market was relaunched on Friday 4 December with 86 stalls; a mixture of existing market traders and new.

The layout of the stalls had been specifically designed to adhere to social distancing guidelines.  The aisles between stalls were wide and clear signage was on display to remind shoppers to social distance.  Hand sanitiser stations were located around the market and additional hand sanitiser was available on individual stalls.

The market offered a wide variety of goods including locally sourced food, crafts and gifts as well as Christmas items and traditional retail goods.

The new Tuesday market had 32 stalls with a wide variety of goods including fresh food and seasonal items, which Bescot are hoping to grow.

Councillor Gordon Alcott, Portfolio Leader for Town Centre Regeneration and Deputy Leader said “The relaunched markets were very impressive, there was a wide variety of stalls with something for everyone.  With retail suffering greatly since the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic this market is a boost for Cannock Town Centre.

“I am pleased that Bescot have confirmed an additional market day, it will give residents the opportunity to get any last-minute Christmas presents and support local businesses.”
