Jaye Mountford aged 15 from Rugeley has been awarded Cannock Chase Council’s Youth Endeavour Award for 2018.
Jaye was chosen from the dozens of young people from Cannock Chase, who were nominated for the award. The Youth Endeavour Award is given to a young person between the ages of 11 and 18 who lives in the District and has made an outstanding contribution to their community, shown great bravery, or helped others in some way.
Jaye was nominated for this award by Sue Merriman in recognition of the time she has spent over the last five years, helping her local Brownie Unit, 10th Rugeley Brownies. The support Jaye has given and received from others has allowed her to grow from a quiet and shy girl into a strong and confident young person,
Jaye has been following a Young Leaders programme and has recently successfully completed all modules. She is credited for being the biggest help in the Unit and gives great commitment and input to helping other young girls.
Jaye is always prepared to get stuck into tasks and has input and ideas into the programme planning for the Brownie Unit. Jaye is keen to engage with children and to encourage them to become confident and to teach them invaluable lifelong skills. She is a shining role model to those around her.
Outgoing Chairman Councillor Alan Dudson said “I am delighted to give this award to such a deserving young lady. It is humbling to see the effort she has made with volunteering for the Brownie Unit, especially after overcoming her own confidence issues. I wish Jaye all the luck for her future endeavours and hope her desire to inspire other young people continues.
Cannock Chase Council believes that such people should be recognised and encouraged and should be proud of their achievements.”
