On Thursday 4 May 2017 voters in Cannock Chase will go to the polls to elect 7 County Councillors to the 6 electoral divisions covering the Cannock Chase District.
The County Council is responsible for making decisions on running services such as education and learning; social care and health; libraries, museums and art galleries; transport and highways; tips and recycling centres; and registration of births, deaths and marriages; in the Cannock Chase area.
Tony McGovern, Electoral Registration Officer for Cannock Chase, said “Only people who are registered to vote can take part in May’s elections. The majority of eligible people are already registered, but those who aren’t won’t be able to have their say on polling day.”
“Registering is easy and you can apply online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote in just a few minutes. You will need your date of birth and national insurance number.”
“The deadline to register to vote is Thursday 13 April 2017, so you’ve still got time, but please don’t leave it until the last minute as it takes a few days for applications to be processed and we may need to come back to you if you’ve missed something.”
Those who would prefer to apply using a paper form can still do so. The form can be downloaded from the registration site or alternatively be requested from the Council’s Electoral Services team. Contact Electoral Services on 01543 464754 and return it before the 13 April registration deadline.
