A student from Kingsmead Technology College has been awarded Cannock Chase Council’s Youth Endeavour Award for 2016.
Niall Toolan aged 15 was nominated by his Head of House, Amanda Evans in recognition of his achievements in and out of school.
Niall is a school prefect and as part of his role he is expected to act as a role model for other students. He is also Wimblebury House Charity Ambassador, where he co-ordinates the work of house representatives.
Out of school Niall has completed the Three Peaks challenge to raise money for Go Commando, an organisation that helps UK war veterans and he is hoping to do this again this year and raise money for the Christie Charity.
Niall is a Young Leader in the Scouts and has been a St John’s Ambulance first aider for four years. He attends martial art classes three times a week and spends free weekends training to compete in triathlons.
Amanda Evans, Head of House said “I believe Niall is an excellent example of a student who channels his energy into making life better for others.”
Councillor Maureen Freeman said “I am delighted to give this award to such a lovely young man. It is important to recognise the achievements Niall continues to make.”
The Youth Endeavour Award is given to a young person between the ages of 11 and 18 who live in the Cannock Chase District and has made an outstanding contribution to the community, shown great bravery, or helped others in some way. Cannock Chase Council believes that such people should be recognised and encouraged and should be proud of their achievements.
