A local Tennis Club and the Cannock Youth Fund has served up an ace for Hednesford Park with 18 weeks of free tennis lessons at the town’s Hednesford Park courts from 7th May .

The scheme has created a partnership with Cannock Chase Council, Friends of Hednesford Park and Cheslyn Hay Tennis Club to help provide free coach led tennis sessions between 10:15am and 12noon on Saturday alongside usual sessions on a Sunday. You don’t even need a racket as all equipment is provided free of charge.

There are also two brand new sessions at Hednesford Park on a Saturday taken by qualified coaches from Cheslyn Hay Tennis Club with the aim to continue throughout the year.

Cardio Tennis (11 yrs to adult – perfect for families)- 10:15-11am Fun, sociable group fitness class with music open to people of all ages and abilities. You’ll hit lots of tennis balls and have a great cardio workout at the same time.

Junior Tennis (10yrs +) 11am-12am- Learn new technical skills and tactics with other players of a similar age and ability. Take part in competitions and improve your tennis and fitness!

Local professional tennis coach Chris Perrin who manages the scheme said: “We are really excited to run free coach-led tennis sessions at Hednesford Park on a Saturday. It's a great chance to try tennis and find out what a great sport it is."

“We don't want anyone to feel nervous or worried about coming down and trying!  Just turn up as we provide the rackets and the balls and enjoy a fun environment to play tennis whatever your level and who knows, maybe the next Andy Murray is about to start playing at Hednesford Park.”
