Shopmobility Scheme

Cannock and Rugeley’s Shopmobility Scheme is under review following a drop in usage figures.

The Shopmobility Scheme provides mobility equipment, such as wheelchairs and motorised scooters for anyone with mobility issues, to hire and use in Cannock and Rugeley town centres.

Councillor Diane Todd, Portfolio Leader for Town Centre Regeneration said “Cannock Chase Shopmobility Scheme was set up in 2011, following the pedestrianisation of the town centres, meaning that it is not always possible for people to park or be dropped off close to the shops.

Unfortunately, there has been a drop in the number of people using the Shopmobility Scheme recently and unless usage picks up it will not be cost effective for the Council to continue with this service.”

Shopmobility is available at Cannock Indoor Market on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and Rugeley Market on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

To ensure availability it is necessary to book in advance by calling 01543 464558 for Cannock and 01889 584845 for Rugeley.
