Cannock Chase Council is backing a national campaign to get a million people out and about and cleaning up their community.
The ‘Clean For The Queen’ campaign aims to tidy up the country ahead of The Queen’s 90th birthday in April. The whole country is having a big clear up on the weekend of 4-6th March.
The Council are encouraging and supporting people who want to ‘do their bit’ to help clear up the litter that blights our District. There are a number of litter pick walks taking place as follows:
Monday 29th February 9:15am and 12:45pm (registration at green container in Hednesford Park)
Monday 7th March 9:15am and 12:45pm (registration at green container in Hednesford Park)
Sunday 6th March 9:45am – (registration at Hednesford Park Tennis Courts)
Councillor Alan Dudson, Portfolio Leader for Environment said “We are delighted to be supporting ‘Clean For The Queen’ Campaign. It is a great opportunity for everyone to get involved and take some pride in where they live. I would encourage any groups, individuals and organisations in the Cannock Chase District to take part”.
‘Clean For The Queen’ campaign director Adrian Evans said: “We hope a million people will join us in a mass litter pick to give our beautiful country the facelift it deserves.
Litter is a problem that Councils across the UK spend the best part of £1billion clearing up every year. By taking part in ‘Clean For The Queen’ and clearing up the country, individuals and communities will not only be giving The Queen a suitably impressive gift to mark her 90th birthday, they will also be giving themselves and their area a present – a clean space in which to live, work and play.”
