Stalled housing developments in the Cannock Chase District could receive help thanks to funding from the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP).
The Unlocking Housing Sites Programme which launched this week could see housing developers in Staffordshire and surrounding areas access a new £9million fund to unlock stalled housing sites.
Councillor Frank Allen, Housing Portfolio Leader said “This funding is designed to give help to sites which have been stalled but are ready for development. This initiative will help bring forward new homes in the area and assist us in making a contribution towards our overall housing needs.”
Councillor Gordon Alcott, Economic Development Portfolio Leader said “The funding from the LEP is designed to address the reasons housing sites have not been developed. Our local plan has identified land for 5,300 new houses in the District. This initiative will help to increase the number of new homes available.”
The programme is intended to support mixed tenure schemes of between 10 and 100 homes and will hopefully bring more affordable housing into the District.
The programme is open to private sector developers, local authorities and registered providers for developments in the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership’s geographical area.
Expressions of interest must be submitted by 6th May 2016 at the latest. Full details including the prospectus and Expression of Interest form are available at www.financebirmingham.com and www.centreofenterprise.com
Developed with Local Growth funding, the Unlocking Housing Sites Programme will be managed by Birmingham City Council with Finance Birmingham.
