Cannock Chase Council welcomes the return of the regular bus service to the Bevan Lee Estate.

Following lobbying by Cannock Chase Council, Arriva have reinstated a bus service to serve the redeveloped Bevan Lee housing estate of over 300 houses.

Arriva used to serve the estate prior to its redevelopment but on completion, the service was not reinstated. Following recent meetings between the Council, Arriva and the County Council, the Council raised the need to reinstate bus services to serve the redevelopment.

Councillor Gordon Alcott, Economic Development and Planning Portfolio Leader said:  “I welcome the return of regular bus services to the Bevan Lee Estate.  It is important that residents have access to regular and reliable bus services, particularly for those who have no alternative transport.   I raised this issue on a regular basis at meetings with Arriva, so I am pleased that they have listened to my concerns.  However, it is important that residents now make full use of this service if it is to be retained in the future.”

The Council is keen to ensure the success of this service and retention and has therefore teamed up with the Bevan Lee Community Partnership to deliver the timetables to every household in their next community newsletter.  Additional copies of the timetable are also available at the Bevan Lee Community Centre, the Civic Centre and the Prince of Wales Theatre.
