Cannock Chase Council is thrilled to announce the completion of the much-anticipated redevelopment of the Flaxley Road play area in Rugeley’s Pear Tree Estate. The newly revamped park is now open for residents to enjoy, marking the transformation of the space into a vibrant, inclusive hub for the whole community.
With an investment of £141,770, the park has been completely revitalised to include new accessible play equipment, a circular path for walking and cycling, seating areas, bins, and fresh tree planting. This redevelopment forms part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to providing safe, welcoming spaces for residents of all ages.
The play area, which had been closed due to safety concerns and vandalism, now stands as a symbol of renewed community pride. Its reopening offers a much-needed space for families to gather, children to play, and everyone to enjoy the outdoors in a secure environment.
Councillor John Preece, Portfolio Leader for Parks, Culture and Heritage, said: “It’s great to see the transformation of the Flaxley Road play park completed. This project represents an investment in our community and a commitment to improving the quality of life for residents. The new play park will provide a safe, enjoyable, and accessible space where families can spend time together and create lasting memories. We look forward to seeing the community make the most of this fantastic facility.”
The Council is also continuing its support for the ‘Friends of Flaxley Road Park’ group, which invites residents to get involved in caring for and maintaining this wonderful new space.
