Families are being encouraged to step into the magical world of the Chase Creatures this Easter half term, with a special trail event taking place on Thursday 9 April, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at Marquis Drive Visitor Centre.
Originally launched in 2023, the Chase Creatures Trail was created with the help of local schoolchildren and professional artists, who worked together to design the 12 imaginative characters that now live across Cannock Chase. The trail invites children and families to explore the landscape, discover each character, and learn more about how everyone can help protect this special place.
Alongside the trail, visitors can enjoy hands on creative activities, including designing their own badge and creating their own character using natural art materials.
Families are also encouraged to download the Cannock Chase Can App to take on the challenge, collect points and discover more ways to enjoy the outdoors.
The event forms part of the Cannock Chase Can programme and is also one of the engagement opportunities delivered through the Cannock Chase SAC Partnership, which works to promote responsible enjoyment of the Chase and raise awareness of its unique habitats.
Councillor David Williams, Community Wellbeing Leader for Cannock Chase Council said: “The Chase Creatures Trail is a brilliant way for families to get outdoors, explore Cannock Chase and learn about the importance of protecting this beautiful landscape. It also supports the health and wellbeing benefits of being active together, and it’s a really exciting challenge for families to undertake using the Cannock Chase Can app. It’s fun, imaginative and completely free to take part, and we’re delighted to offer something so engaging for children this half term.”
Tony Pearce speaking on behalf of the Cannock Chase SAC Partnership, said: “Cannock Chase is an internationally important habitat, and helping young people understand its wildlife and heritage is vital. The Chase Creatures Trail brings that message to life in a playful and memorable way, and we’re excited to welcome families to this special event.”
The event is free and open to all, with no booking required. Families can download the Cannock Chase Can App ahead of their visit to get the most from the experience.
The trail was developed in partnership with the Cannock Chase Cultural Education Partnership and the Cannock Chase SAC Partnership, who work together to promote creativity, environmental awareness and a deeper connection with the Chase.
