Heath Week returns for 2026, running from Monday 27 July to Sunday 2 August, offering residents and visitors the chance to celebrate and explore the unique purple heathlands of Cannock Chase.
Organised to highlight the importance of this rare and beautiful habitat, Heath Week features a range of family-friendly activities designed to help people discover the rich wildlife of local heathlands, understand their ecological value, and learn how to help protect them for future generations.
A highlight of the programme is a series of guided Heath Week Walks led by Cannock Chase Council’s countryside team at Hednesford Hills, a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

• Saturday 1 August, 10:00am – 11:30am
These relaxed walks will give participants an opportunity to explore the heathland landscape, discover the wide variety of species that call it home—from vibrant wildflowers to fascinating invertebrates—and learn how the Council manages the site to conserve and enhance its biodiversity.
The walks are suitable for all ages and there will be plenty of opportunities to stop, observe and learn along the way.

Families can also extend their outdoor adventure by downloading the Cannock Chase Can App, which features interactive Story Walks in Cannock Park, Hednesford Park, Elmore Park and Ravenhill Park.
Each Story Walk includes 10 hidden QR codes for families to find. Scanning each code unlocks facts, mini activities and challenges, perfect for engaging children with nature in a fun and creative way.
