Cannock Chase Council is appealing to residents to pledge to pick one bag of litter or more for Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean campaign as the charity marks its 70th anniversary

Cannock Chase Council has today backed a bid to pick litter from the District’s streets and public spaces during Britain’s favourite environmental charity’s clean-up campaign.

Cannock Chase Council is staging a major free event on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 March at the Chase Leisure Centre in Cannock, when the people of the District are invited to come along and help imagine better times ahead, by living more sustainably and responding to climate change.

A new business advisor has been appointed to support ambitious entrepreneurs across Cannock Chase.

Under a partnership between Cannock Chase Council and Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Growth Hub, Richard Carty will be on hand to support SMEs in the area looking for expert advice to help plot a growth curve for 2024.

Sessions are continuing in schools across the District, to raise awareness and understanding of key issues facing young people.

Loudmouth Education and Training have been commissioned by the Community Safety Team to run theatre based educational programmes in schools across Cannock Chase. Themes and delivery are varied according to age, and the programme uses drama and discussion to enable learning on a wide range of issues. These include child sexual exploitation, grooming, exploitation into crime, knife crime, extremism, grooming, trafficking and alcohol abuse.

A new campaign has been launched between domestic abuse services, local authorities and agencies to raise awareness around Valentine’s Day of the potential early signs of domestic abuse.  

Cannock Stadium in Pye Green, Cannock, is moving to the next stage of its development with the design and installation of a brand new skatepark.

To help shape the design and share their views, the Council  is asking residents/users to come to their engagement days planned for this February.

The engagement days will take place at Cannock Stadium on:

Tuesday 13 February    1:30-3:30pm
Saturday 24 February    11:30-1:30pm

Cannock Chase Council are consulting on the improvement plans for Cannock Park.

There are lots of ways that you can have your say including: via our website  www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/newparks, scanning the QR code below, there will also be a chance to get involved via our engagement days.  Officers will be on site to give residents an opportunity to get involved in the design of the play areas.  These will take place in Cannock Park on:

Residents and businesses have one last chance to comment on the Cannock Chase Local Plan 2018 - 2040 before it is submitted to the Government’s Planning Inspectorate for independent examination.

The Local Plan looks at future development and addresses the needs of the District, such as housing and employment land. It also identifies where development should take place and where is should be restricted.

Over £73k of funding has been received from the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership’s (GBSLEP) Future Impact Fund, to fund a skills project which will be delivered by South Staffordshire College.

The funding will be used for the construction of a dedicated outdoor concrete pad and cover facility at the Cannock College campus, which will enable students to experience working outside as they would in the workplace.
