Cannock Chase Council is proud to be supporting Love Parks Week 2026, with parks and green spaces across the district joining hundreds of locations nationwide in this annual celebration.
Running from 24 July to 2 August, Love Parks Week highlights the vital role parks play in supporting healthy communities, protecting the environment and bringing people together. It also recognises the dedication of those who care for and maintain these valued spaces.
Nationally, regular use of parks provides significant benefits, contributing more than £34 billion annually to health and wellbeing and helping to save the NHS over £111 million each year through reduced GP visits alone.
This year’s campaign encourages residents to explore their local green spaces and take part in activities that help protect and enhance them, from small community gardens to larger parks and nature reserves.
Across the district, a range of free activities will be taking place throughout the week, including bee walks, heath, and nature activities, offering something for all ages to enjoy. All events are free, however, the walks on Hednesford Hills require booking in advance.
Councillor John Parkes, Portfolio Leader for Operational Services and Parks, said:
“Love Parks Week is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the beautiful green spaces we have here in Cannock Chase and the positive impact they have on our residents’ health and wellbeing.
“Our parks and open spaces are an important part of the local community, providing places for people to relax, stay active and connect with nature. I’d encourage everyone to get involved in the activities taking place and make the most of our wonderful parks this summer.”
Keep Britain Tidy’s Chief Executive, Allison Ogden-Newton OBE, said: “Keep Britain Tidy’s Love Parks campaign is an opportunity for everyone to celebrate, appreciate and recognise the value of their park and green space – and also to talk about what that green space means for them and their communities.
“Hundreds of park managers and 'friends of' volunteer groups across England are throwing open their gates to their communities, hosting a diverse range of inclusive events and it’s wonderful to hear about Cannock Chase Council’s plans.
“Parks are essential for our wellbeing and the health of our environment, and we know that spending time in them offers opportunities for exercise, social connection and stress reduction.”
