Cannock Chase Council is inviting all interested parties to respond to its consultation on a revised Gambling Policy.
The consultation on the Gambling Act Statement of Principles 2025 (also known as the Gambling Policy) started on Friday 31 May 2024 and runs until Sunday 30 June 2024.
Relevant premises and parties across the District have been contacted, advising them about the consultation and how to get involved. Details of the consultation are also on the Council’s website https://www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/business/licensing-permits/draft-statement-gambling-policy-consultation-may-2024
The three main licensing objectives of the Gambling Act are:
• Preventing gambling from being a source of crime or disorder, being associated with crime or being used to support crime
• Ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way
• Protecting children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling
Gabrielle Whitehouse, Head of Regulatory Services at the council, said: “We are required by the Gambling Act 2005 to publish a statement of principles, which we will apply when exercising any functions under the Act.
“I would encourage anyone with an interest to review the document and make any comments to our Licensing Unit before the 30 June 2024.”
The Council intends to approve and adopt this Statement of Principles at the full Council meeting in the Autumn of 2024 and the finalised document will then be published on our website, ready to take effect from January 2025.
If you wish to make any comments about the document, you can email licensingunit@cannockchasedc.gov.uk by 30 June 2024.
