Cannock’s Friday Street Market was re-launched on Friday 27th May by operator’s E.G. Skett & Co.

The market saw attractively dressed stalls, with live music throughout the day and street entertainment.

During the celebrations newly appointed Chairman Councillor Zaphne Stretton MBE presented trader of year to Ben Roberts.

The trader of the year was chosen by the traders. Ben Roberts sells homemade pickles and preserves, eggs, scratchings, cakes and sweets.  Ben from Cannock has been trading at the Cannock Street Market for two and a half years.

Chairman Councillor Zaphne Stretton MBE said “It is a pleasure to award the trader of the year presentation to Ben.  He is a lovely man and I am delighted that he has won the award.”

Councillor Diane Todd, Portfolio Leader for Town Centre Regeneration said “It was lovely to see so many people shopping in the town centre.  There was a fantastic atmosphere with the live music and street entertainment.  The street market has brought the vibrancy and vitality that Cannock town centre needed.  I hope that residents will continue to support our town centre and local markets.”

As part of the Love Your Local Market 2016 campaign, Sketts offered 10 free stalls for the re-launch in Cannock, which two were taken up by two charity organisations.
