Cannock Chase Council is appealing to residents across Cannock Chase to pledge to pick one bag of litter - or more - for Keep Britain Tidy’s 10th Great British Spring Clean.
Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean campaign, which runs from 21 March - 6 April, is calling residents across Cannock Chase to show they love where they live by taking part in the mass action litter pick, during Britain’s favourite environmental charity’s clean-up campaign.
Councillor Lisa Wilson, Portfolio Leader for Environment and Climate Change said: “As a Council, we are proud to support the Great British Spring Clean campaign. It’s a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together and make a real difference. Every action, no matter how small, helps create cleaner, greener spaces for everyone to enjoy. Let’s work together to tackle litter and keep Cannock Chase looking it’s best.
"If you want to get involved the Council have a limited supply of litter picking equipment you can borrow, and will pick up the bags of litter you collect. Contact our Street Cleansing team on 01543 462621 or email streetcleansing@cannockchasedc.gov.uk.”
The charity reports that last year: 97% of participants agreed that they felt they had made a difference to their local area. 84% of people who took part in the Great British Spring Clean agreed that they felt more pride for their local area.
Keep Britain Tidy’s Chief Executive, Allison Ogden-Newton OBE, said: “We are so grateful for the game-changing support from Cannock Chase Council.
“The Great British Spring Clean is a fantastic way for councils to support residents to really show their pride in where they live, and connect with like-minded people, while taking serious and immediate action to protect the environment on their doorstep.
“During this year’s campaign, we are highlighting that the environment belongs to everyone, and that everyone is welcome to join in with our activities and celebrate the 10th Great British Spring Clean.
“We are humbled to see our army of #LitterHeroes volunteers carrying out these acts of kindness to make the planet a cleaner, safer place for our future generations.”
