Cannock Chase Council has published its new Corporate Plan which sets out the priorities and focus for the future in the District.

There are two new priorities for 2018-2023, of `Promoting Prosperity` and `Community Wellbeing`.  These replace the previous five priorities as part of a more focused and cohesive approach. The plan follows a public survey which closed in December 2017 and consultation with partners.

The corporate plan not only sets out the priorities for the next five years, it also looks back at key achievements delivered as part of the last corporate plan.

Councillor John Kraujalis, Corporate Improvement Portfolio Leader said: “Our new Corporate Plan was published last month, setting out our priorities and focus for the future. We are ambitious for the future and aim to build on recent progress and make sure that we can attract more opportunities for our local communities.

“Our commitment to residents and businesses in the District is that we will remain focused on the issues that are important in Cannock Chase, however difficult and challenging these may be.”

The plan is backed up by two new investment funds, the District Investment Fund for improving skills, infrastructure and business growth; plus the Housing Investment Fund to support a major expansion of high quality social housing in the District. The Council, working with relevant public, private and voluntary sectors partners, will develop more detailed strategies and plans which will bring to life the priority commitments in this new Corporate Plan.

There are opportunities to improve quality of life for people who live and work in the District.  Unemployment levels have fallen, business growth in the District remains buoyant, significant investment is underway including the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Cannock due to open in 2020, in new and existing housing, improved leisure facilities as well as the opportunities from the region hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2022; and improvements will continue to be made to the District’s award-winning parks and open spaces.

Councillor Kraujalis adds, “The Council works in partnership with a wide range of public, private and voluntary organisations. The challenges facing this District are complex and no organisation acting alone will be able to address these. Making progress means being committed to collaboration within the District, across Staffordshire and the whole West Midlands region.”
