A 45-year-old man from Hednesford has been convicted for breaching a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in Cannock.
The man was found consuming alcohol in Market Place, Cannock, on 10 October 2025, despite alcohol-related restrictions being in place under the PSPO.
Following enforcement action by Cannock Chase District Council, the case was heard through the Single Justice Procedure at Staffordshire Magistrates Court earlier this month, where the defendant was found guilty of the offence.
The Court ordered him to pay a £100 fine, along with a victim surcharge of £88 and prosecution costs of £600.
Public Spaces Protection Orders are designed to help tackle anti-social behaviour and ensure public spaces remain safe and welcoming for residents, visitors and businesses.
Councillor Georgina Jeffery Portfolio Leader for Community Safety and Wellbeing, said:
"Public Spaces Protection Orders play an important role in helping us address anti-social behaviour and maintain a safe environment for everyone who lives, works and visits Cannock Chase. We will continue to take action against those who fail to comply with these restrictions."
The Council works closely with partners, including Staffordshire Police, to enforce the PSPO and support safer public spaces across the district.
