A new interactive walking trail celebrating Bridgtown’s rich history has officially launched, bringing stories of the past to life with QR codes, local creativity, and community spirit.

The Bridgtown Tales Trail was officially launched this month, offering residents and visitors the chance to explore the village through a fun and engaging route. Along the trail, explorers can find 8 QR codes, each revealing fascinating stories, facts and insights into Bridgtown’s unique heritage.

The project has been developed in partnership with Cannock Chase Council and Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles, with support from the Bridgtown and District Local History Group. It is funded as part of the Cannock Chase Can programme – an initiative that encourages people to get active, explore their local area, and improve their wellbeing.

In a creative twist, local schoolchildren worked alongside professional artists to develop the content for each QR code, helping to bring Bridgtown’s past to life in a fun, fresh and imaginative way.

Anna Nevin, Head of Wellbeing at Cannock Chase Council, said: "The Bridgtown Tales Trail is a brilliant way to make history more engaging and accessible, and it builds perfectly on the momentum of last year’s relaunch of the Cannock Chase Heritage Trail. It’s especially inspiring to see children helping to shape the trail – they’ve added real heart and creativity to it. I’d encourage everyone to get involved, get walking, and discover something new about Bridgtown."

John Devey, Chair of the Bridgtown and District Local History Group, added: “We’re delighted to support this trail and to see Bridgtown’s history shared in such an interactive way. The involvement of local schools has made the project even more special, and we hope it encourages people of all ages to explore and learn more about our village.”

A free trail map is available to download online and from local venues. It includes useful instructions to help guide you along the route. The challenge is also featured on the Cannock Chase Can app, where you can track your progress and discover even more free local activities. The app is free to download.
