Children from local schools have had a sneak preview at the new play areas at Hednesford Park, which are still under construction.

Children from Hednesford Valley High School, Littleton Green Community School, St Peter’s C of E Primary School, Staffordshire University Academy and Pye Green Academy donned their hard hats and had a guided tour of the construction site of the new play area.

The work taking place on the park is following the Council successfully obtaining a Heritage Lottery Fund Grant of £2.2M as part of the improvements to the park, which was match funded by the Council, Staffordshire Environmental Fund and St Modwens.

Work started in August on the new junior and toddler play areas and contractors were on site to answer any questions the children had about the work taking place.

Councillor Christine Mitchell, Portfolio Leader for Culture and Sport said “This was a great opportunity for the children who have been involved in the project from the beginning to see the process that goes into making a new play area.

I hope everyone enjoyed the preview and I look forward to seeing them when the play area’s open”.

The new play areas are expected to be completed in November, weather permitting.
