New waste and recycling calendars on the way

Waste and recycling calendar

Published: Monday, 31st October 2016

Time to clean some space on your fridge, as the new waste and recycling calendars are on their way to residents in the District.

The new calendars will be distributed to 42,500 households in the District over the next few weeks.

The calendar will form part of an information booklet which residents can keep on their fridge as a permanent recycling reminder.  It gives valuable information such as what goes in which bin, a reminder of our ‘stop and think’ contamination campaign that animal bedding, nappies, DIY materials, food waste and textiles should not be put in the blue bin.  Residents are also reminded that as part of that campaign if any bagged waste, irrelevant of what it contains is found in the blue bin, it will not be emptied.

Councillor John Preece, Portfolio Leader for the Environment said “I am pleased that the new calendars are on the way to residents.  I would encourage everyone to make room on their fridge and keep them as a reminder of what can and cannot be recycled.

I know that recycling can be confusing for some people, however there are a number of tools that can help you decide what goes in which bin including; the annual calendar, or the search facility on our website.

I would like to thank residents for their recycling efforts in 2016, as the vast majority of the District (87%) are doing it extremely well and by doing so are helping us to protect services in the future.”

You can find out what goes in which bin by using our ‘Click to search’ facility on the website. www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/whichbin

You can also download replacement calendars to print off yourself on our website from Monday 28 November. http://www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/residents/recycling-waste/waste-and-recycling-collection-calendars
