Pantomime themed story walks across parks

Panto characters in Hednesford Park

Published: Friday, 22nd December 2023

Residents can get into the Christmas spirit with specially themed story walks to compliment the pantomimes taking place across the District this festive period.

Across Cannock, Elmore and Hednesford parks there are 10 story boards themed on the history of pantomimes.  The story walk takes approximately 30 minutes and will run throughout the Christmas period and into the New Year.

Each frame has a QR code which you need to scan. There are 10 to collect to complete the challenges on the Cannock Chase Can App. There is a challenge for each park.

The Cannock Chase Can App is available to download for free by visiting Google Play and the App Store.

The app provides users with the tools to help them improve their own health and wellbeing, by making it fun, focused and easily accessible.

The story frames follow a circular route around the parks.  Families will be able to learn about the history of pantomimes before or after watching the pantomime at our local theatres.

The Prince of Wales Theatre in Cannock is showing Snow White and the Seven Dwarves from 23-27 December.  Tickets can be purchased here: https://www.skiddle.com/whats-on/Walsall/The-Prince-Of-Wales-Theatre/#eventslist

The Red Rose Theatre in Rugeley is showing Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs from 25-27 January.  Tickets can be purchased here: https://rugeley-rose-theatre.co.uk/

Councillor John Preece, Portfolio Leader for Parks, Culture and Heritage said “We are extremely lucky to have two theatres in our District where residents can experience traditional family fun over the festive period.  The story walks have proved popular across our parks.  They get everyone learning something new whilst enjoying some fresh air and our award winning parks.”
