Contractors have been selected for the second part of the phase 1 works at the former Cannock Stadium site.
Works will include; new footpaths/cycle ways, adventure play area, lighting, green gym equipment, BMX pump track, community allotments/building and car parking.
Blakedown Sports and Play Limited will now enter an eight week design period, during which design proposals will be finalised with the Council.
Councillor Christine Mitchell, Portfolio Leader for Culture and Sport said “I am delighted that a contractor has now been selected to complete the remaining works for phase 1 of the stadium development.”
“There is a lot of work to be done and many elements involved but once complete it will be a great addition to the play area and MUGA and will be used by all ages.”
As part of these works, including widening of the entrance, some essential tree management will take place at the entrance to the site, with the mature conifer trees being removed. These will be replaced as part of a wider planting scheme to enhance the overall look of the site.
