Cannock Chase Council’s Cabinet is set recommend to spend £36,500 to replace damaged play equipment in the District

The equipment which was damaged in two separate arson attacks at the former Cannock Stadium site and Hayes Way play areas will be replaced with either like for like equipment or equipment in a similar design.

Councillor Christine Mitchell, Portfolio Leader for Culture and Sport said “The extent of the damage caused by these two attacks is unprecedented in the District.

The equipment at both sites is damaged beyond repair which has never been seen by the Council before in any of its 42 play areas.

Both sites are popular with local residents and their children, so it is important that they are repaired.  I hope that the new equipment is looked after and respected in the future for the young children that get so much enjoyment out of using it.”

Work will start on repairing the play areas in the next couple of months.
