Postal votes on the way to residents in Cannock Chase

Postal votes

Postal votes for the local elections, which take place on Thursday 2 May are currently being sent out to eligible residents.

When your postal vote arrives, look out for the two ballot papers to complete: the green one is for the Cannock Chase Council elections and the yellow one is for the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner elections.

Chris Forrester Returning Officer for Cannock Chase said “Please return your postal vote as soon as possible via Royal Mail using the pre-paid envelope.  Try to avoid leaving it to the last minute. Any postal votes handed into a polling station or at the Council Offices will require you to complete a ‘Postal Vote Return Form’.  Failure to complete the form properly or refusal to do so will result in the vote being rejected.  All postal votes must be received before 10pm on 2 May.”

This year, you can vote to elect three Councillors to your ward.  There have been changes to every ward in Cannock Chase District as a result of a boundary review, with the exception of Norton Canes; some boundaries are different and there are some new ward names.  These changes have resulted in a reduction of wards from 15 to 12 and Councillors from 41 to 36.  You can view the new boundaries here:  https://www.lgbce.org.uk/all-reviews/cannock-chase

Residents are reminded that they must have a valid form of photo ID if they plan to vote in person.  If you don’t have valid ID, you won’t be able to vote.  To find out what photo ID is accepted or to apply for photo ID click here:
