Cabinet members from Cannock Chase Council recently visited the site of the new £6 million Coronation Court nursing home, which is set to open in early 2025.
Built on the site of the former Avon Road car park, the 33-bedroom facility is designed to provide specialist care for adults with complex needs, including those living with brain injuries, dementia, mental health conditions, neuro-disabilities, and physical disabilities.
The modern, three-storey building features 11 ensuite rooms per floor, with each level has been thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of its residents. In addition to the residential rooms, the home will offer a range of amenities, such as communal dining and living areas, sensory bathrooms, an activities hub, a therapy room, a hair salon, and an accessible garden.
Coronation Court will also generate around 100 new jobs for the local community. Exemplar Health Care, the provider operating the home, has launched a recruitment campaign to fill positions, including registered nurses, unit managers, catering assistants, and various other care and support roles. Applications can be submitted via Exemplar Health Care’s website at https://www.exemplarhc.com/careers.
Midlands-based Deeley Construction were appointed to complete the development, which will be owned and operated by leading national health care provider Exemplar Health Care.
Councillor Tony Johnson, Leader of the Council said: “I’m incredibly impressed with the facility. It’s a fantastic asset for the residents of Cannock Chase. The collaboration between Deeley Construction and Exemplar Health Care has created a space that will make a real difference to those with complex brain injuries to get the care they need.
“This facility will also bring a massive jobs boost to the town with around 100 jobs available for those living in Cannock Chase.”
Councillor Maureen Freeman, Portfolio Leader for Regeneration and High Streets said: “This is a wonderful facility. The thought and care that has gone into the design is exceptional. It will provide great benefits to our residents who need specialist care or rehabilitation, and its location will help integrate them into the local community. I’m excited to see the home once it is fully completed.”
Eleanor Deeley, Joint Managing Director at Deeley Group, said: “We have made excellent progress on site over the last few months and are on track for completion in early 2025.
“It has been fantastic to see the transformation of a redundant brownfield site into an incredibly important nursing home for adults living with complex needs.
“We look forward to welcoming representatives from Cannock Chase Council to celebrate the completion of work next year.”
Charlotte Lloyd, Director of Commissioning at Exemplar Health Care, said: “Our aim is to make every day better for our residents by providing person-centred care that focuses on maximising independence, building everyday living skills and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible.
“We were incredibly pleased to welcome the Cabinet Members from Cannock Chase Council onto the site as it nears completion. Once open, the home will create a significant number of local healthcare employment opportunities, whilst also making sure the local Cannock community has access to a much-needed complex needs care service. It’s our ambition for the home to be a place where our residents can be part of the community, whether through work placements, local events or volunteering.”
