Repair works of the swimming pool at Rugeley Leisure Centre will be completed early 2021.
Inspiring healthy lifestyles (IHL) who manage the swimming pool on behalf of the Council identified problems with the tiling in the pool, which was drained during lockdown, to determine the extent of the issue and carry out assessments on the pool.
Tests have been conducted on the pool, pipelines and water tanks over the last few weeks to pinpoint the potential water leak and reasons behind failed tiling.
A spokesperson for Inspiring healthy lifestyles said: “We understand how important the pool at Rugeley Leisure Centre is to the community and are working to have the pool operational in early 2021.
“As work goes on we will continue to keep members updated as best we can and would like to remind users of Rugeley Pool that they can use Chase Leisure Centre as part of their membership.”
Councillor Christine Mitchell, Portfolio Leader for Culture and Sport said: “The team at Inspiring healthy lifestyles are working hard with contractors to determine the damage to, and carry out repairs on the pool at Rugeley Leisure Centre to have it operational as soon as possible and we hope to see the pool open again in early 2021”.
