Resident fined for selling vehicles from his property

Cannock Chase Council has successfully prosecuted a resident who sold and stored vehicles from his property.

Mr John Birch of Badgers Way, Heath Hayes pleaded guilty to the charge of non compliance with an Enforcement Notice under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990; at Newcastle Under Lyme Magistrates Court on Monday 3 October.

Mr Birch had been advertising cars for sale in the Autotrader between 27 April and 28 July, thereby operating a car sales business from his domestic premises.

Councillor Gordon Alcott, Economic Development and Planning Portfolio Leader said “This is a stark warning to residents in the District. Cannock Chase Council will prosecute those residents who don’t comply with Enforcement Notices issued.”

Mr Birch was fined £500, ordered to pay costs of £500 and a victim surcharge of £50.
