Cannock Chase Council is proud to announce that six parks and green spaces across the district have once again been recognised with the esteemed Green Flag Award for 2025, celebrating excellence in the management and maintenance of public green spaces.
The sites are one of 2,250 in the UK to achieve the award, which is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces.
The award-winning sites are Cannock Park, Ravenhill Park, Elmore Park, Hednesford Park, Stile Cop Cemetery, and Castle Ring—each having successfully retained their Green Flag status for another year.
In addition, Castle Ring has also retained the Green Heritage Site Accreditation, supported by Historic England, for the management and promotion of its historic features.
The news that these sites have met the standards required for the accreditation is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team that care for the green space so that visitors and residents alike can enjoy it.
Joss Presland, Head of Operations said: "We’re absolutely delighted to retain these prestigious Green Flag Awards. This recognition is a reflection of our continued dedication to providing safe, accessible, and beautifully maintained green spaces for residents and visitors. I want to thank our dedicated Council officers, hardworking volunteers, and local ‘friends’ groups for their tireless efforts in caring for these much-loved parks and open spaces.”
Green Flag Award Scheme Manager, Paul Todd MBE, said: “Congratulations to everyone involved who have worked tirelessly to ensure that these sites across Cannock Chase achieve the high standards required for the Green Flag Award.
“Quality parks and green spaces like these make the country a heathier place to live and work in, and a stronger place in which to invest.
“Crucially, these sites are a vital green space for communities across Cannock Chase to enjoy nature, and during the ongoing cost of living crisis it is a free and safe space for families to socialise. It also provides important opportunities for local people and visitors to reap the physical and mental health benefits of green space.”
The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
