We are pleased to announce the official opening of Cannock Stadium skatepark and learn to ride park will take place on Thursday 11 July.

The event organised by Cannock Chase Council will be supported by partners, The Friends of Cannock Stadium, Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles, Forestry England and Canvas.

Running from 4pm until 7pm this exciting event promises a plethora of activities including competitions, prizes, and giveaways.

Canvas the company responsible for the design and construction of the skatepark will be hosting competitions for both scooters and skateboards.  These will start at 4:30pm until approximately 6:30pm with breaks in between to allow riders who are not competing to use the park.  Prizes will be awarded for outstanding tricks and enthusiastic participation.

Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles will be running a bike activity on the new learn to ride park.

The Cannock Chase Can team will also be there promoting the App and its benefits to improve your health and wellbeing.

Joss Presland Head of Operations at Cannock Chase Council said “I am delighted that there is an opening event to celebrate this fantastic facility at Cannock Stadium.  The event aims to bring enthusiastic users of all abilities together to enjoy the park and have lots of fun.

“The urban style learn to ride area has been designed to encourage younger people and their families to use more active forms of travel which will benefit their health and wellbeing and reduce their transport related green-house gas emissions. The idea for the facility was conceived as part of the district’s Commonwealth Games legacy; it was designed to complement Forestry England’s rural bike and play area at Birches Valley. The skate park and learn to ride area part of the development has cost in the region of £245,000, and we would hope that it will be well looked after and be used for many years to come.”

Darcy Wright Design Engineer at Canvas said “We are proud of the outcome of the Stadium Skatepark project which is perfect for beginners as well as advanced riders. The design was developed closely with the local community and has resulted in a very popular facility that we are sure will be enjoyed for many years to come, with endless opportunities to learn new skills.”
