Solar panels to be installed on Rugeley Leisure Centre

Cannock Chase Council’s Cabinet have approved to spend £238,275 on solar panels at Rugeley Leisure Centre.
The funding has been allocated from money received from the Government’s Swimming Pool Support Fund, which aims to improve the energy efficiency of public facilities.

David Williams Portfolio Leader for Community Wellbeing said “It is great news that Cabinet have agreed that we can use this funding to install solar panels on Rugeley Leisure Centre. Provision of swimming pools has a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of our residents, which is a priority for the Council. 

“This this will not only improve our facilities but also reduce energy consumption, which in turn will reduce running costs and our carbon emissions This demonstrates progress on the Council’s ambitions to become carbon neutral. It is clear, that the Cabinet is delivering investment to all areas of the district, including Rugeley and Brereton.”

The funding must be spent by 31 March 2025.
