People who are up for a challenge can take part in various old fashioned games in Hednesford Park on 13 August as part of Hednesford Festival.

The old fashioned games are a big part of this Festival and form part of the events programme hosted by the Friends of Hednesford Park.

The old fashioned games – which are free to enter – are being held between 12noon and 3.30pm, with challenges suitable for individuals or teams (maximum of 6). Games will include tug of war, a cryptic clue walk based on wartime history, inflatable assault course, welly wanging, egg and spoon race and much much more!

Challenges are suitable for all ages. Prizes will be given to the winners of each activity.

The old fashioned games are being hosted by the Friends of Hednesford Park with the support of Hednesford Army Cadets.

If you think you’re up for a challenge, why not come along and take part! You can sign up on the day.

As part of Hednesford Festival, there will also be a walk from Hednesford Park to the site of Brindley Heath Hospital. This will be a led walk informing you about the history of the site. Walkers need to meet at 9am at the Pavilion at Hednesford Park and will return back to the park by 1pm.

Cllr Christine Mitchell, Leader of Culture and Sport for Cannock Chase Council, said “The old fashioned games will be one of the highlights of Hednesford Festival, so we need lots of Cannock Chase people to get involved. This is going to be a lot of fun but it will also be a genuine test of teamwork and fitness. We'd encourage everyone to sign up for a truly memorable event. Just a warning, though: a towel and a change of clothes may be required for those taking part!”

Hednesford Festival is taking place on Saturday 13 August between 12noon and 4pm in Hednesford Park and Town Centre.

The event is supported by Cannock Chase Council, Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles, Friends of Hednesford Park, Hednesford in Partnership and Hednesford Town Council.
