Tennis For Free (TFF) returned to Hedneford Park last Sunday (18 April) and will start in Cannock Park on 2 May, after Government restrictions were eased to allow outdoor sports.
Tennis For Free are a registered charity, set up in 2004 to address the barriers for participation in tennis and encourage participation in sport.
TFF provides free coach led group tennis sessions and free usage of equipment.
The TFF sessions are delivered by Cheslyn Hay & Cannock Chase Community Tennis Club and held every Sunday between 10am and 11am at Hednesford Park and 11:30am-12:30pm at Cannock Park. The sessions are open to anyone over 12 years old only, due to current Covid-19 safety requirements.
Mike Edmonds, Head of Environment and Healthy Lifestyles said: “The Tennis For Free sessions have been a great success in the District and we’re delighted that following the changes to Government guidelines they are able to start up again, albeit with restrictions.
“The Council is committed to helping residents have healthier lifestyles and these sessions will encourage people to visit the park and participate in tennis.
“Places are limited due to Covid-19 restrictions, so please ensure that you book, don’t just turn up.”
Chris Perrin, Head Tennis Coach at Cheslyn Hay & Cannock Chase Community Tennis Club said: “We welcome everyone in the local community to come and play Tennis for free in a friendly environment.
“These sessions are perfect if you are starting out on your tennis journey or looking for new opportunities, there is something for everyone. It is an exciting time for Tennis in the District.”
