Work has started on environmental improvements on Chadsmoor High Street this week.
Improvements include repainting bollards and bins, lampposts, bike stands within Chadsmoor War Memorial and car park; installing additional planters; a new ‘Welcome to Chadsmoor’ signs; clean-up of pavement areas; remarking the car park on the corner of Burns Street and Cannock Road; and installation of a memorial bench.
These improvements are thanks to Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) which is a levy imposed on development to address infrastructure needs as a result of development carried out in the area. An element of this levy is collected as neighbourhood funds for local schemes of improvements within a parish or ward.
Councillors representing the former Cannock East ward identified Chadsmoor High Street (Cannock Road) as the focus for these funds which total £23,100.73.
The scheme has been developed in partnership with Staffordshire County Council and is being delivered by their contractor Amey.
Visiting the site ward Councillor Jacquie Prestwood said: It’s good to see work starting on the environmental improvement around Chadsmoor High Street. I hope this will give residents and businesses in the vicinity a sense of pride. It’s a perfect example of how CIL funding can be used to make a positive impact in our local neighbourhoods.”
The work is set to take around a week to complete.
