Licensing & Permits

The Licensing Unit at Cannock Chase Council provides licences for a wide range of activities including, animal boarding and breeding establishments, riding establishments, regulated entertainment, alcohol, charitable collections, gambling premises and the taxi/private hire trade.

World Cup Update

Emergency legislation to allow people to watch this weekend’s England vs Mexico World Cup game live in their local pub has been enacted.

This means we will relax licensing hours for licensed premises for 6 July 2026 until 5am.

You don’t need to do anything.

The Government is using powers under Section 172 of the Licensing Act 2003 to allow this to happen.

And they have said they will do all they can to make sure England fans can watch the Three Lions with a pint in hand and make memories to last a life time.

World Cup Event Guidance

The British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA) has issued new national guidance to help pubs and bars prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup - with the Institute of Licensing playing a key role in shaping the final document. The guidance, produced in partnership with UK Hospitality, the British Institute of Innkeeping, the National Police Chiefs’ Council and supported by National Pubwatch and Best Bar None, sets out practical steps for licensees planning to screen matches between 11 June and 19 July.
