Cannock Chase Council’s recent microchipping event in Rugeley was an overwhelming success.

The microchipping event, which took place at Victory Hall in Slitting Mill on Saturday 2nd April, provided residents in the District with the opportunity to have their dogs chipped for free.

Cannock Chase Council in conjunction with the Dogs Trust and Swan Pit Kennels microchipped 178 dogs on the day and scanned another 20 dogs, which were found to already have chips.

Council earmarks money for environmental improvements in the District

Cannock Chase Council has earmarked £100,000 to make environmental improvements to the District’s town centres and the wider District during 2016/17.

As part of the process the Council is asking residents for ideas on where they would like to see the money being spent to improve our District.  Suggestions so far include: car park resurfacing and signs; keeping benches and street furniture freshly painted; improving street name plates/general information signs and increasing planting.

Biffa set to take over waste collections in the District

Biffa Municipal Ltd will take over waste collections in the Cannock Chase District from 2nd April.

Cannock Chase Council awarded the contract for waste collection to Biffa Municipal Ltd in November last year following a long procurement process, which resulted in significant financial savings.

Free microchipping of dogs for Cannock Chase Residents

Cannock Chase Council working in conjunction with the Dog’s Trust and Swan Pit Kennels, Gnosall is offering residents who own a dog the chance to get it microchipped at a free microchipping event.

The event will take place at Victory Hall, Slitting Mill Lane, Slitting Mill on Saturday 2nd April from 10am-3pm, before the new law comes into force on 6th April 2016.

The Dogs Trust is providing the microchips and staff from Swan Pit Kennels, in Gnosall, will be implanting them in dogs free of charge. 

Council assists logistics company relocate to bigger premises

Cannock Chase Council has worked with EDS Couriers to find larger premises to enable the company to stay in the District.

EDS Couriers who has premises in Bridgtown, which they were outgrowing fast, contacted the Council to help them find bigger premises.

The Council were aware that TNT were vacating their site in Wimblebury, which was suitable for EDS and would give them further growth potential.

Cannock Chase Council urges Department of Health and NHS England not to undermine the community pharmacy provision with proposed changes.

The Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC), the Department of Health and NHS England, set out changes that they wish to make to the way that community pharmacies operate, together with an overall reduction in funding in a joint letter last December.

Jobs fair set to take place in the District this spring

Cannock Chase Council in collaboration with Job Centre Plus and Chase Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a jobs fair in Cannock this spring.

The jobs fair will be free for everyone and aims to bring together jobseekers and providers with vacancies and give them the chance to talk about any employment opportunities available.

Egg-stravaganza of events at District Markets this Easter

Cannock Indoor, Prince of Wales and Skett’s Street Market events will start from 10am on Good Friday (Friday 25th March), where children will be greeted by Anna from Frozen, there is a free face painter, an Easter egg hunt, an Easter bunny handing out chocolate, street music playing and Cannock Chase Radio playing live in Market Hall.

Activities continue on Saturday 26th March with hunt the Easter bunnies in Cannock Market Hall, the owl experience and Natasha Marie, a female vocalist live from 10am-2pm.
