New boundaries are being proposed for council wards in Cannock Chase Council.  

The Local Government Boundary Commission wants to hear what residents and local organisations think about the proposals. A 10-week consultation on the proposals will run until 6 February 2023. 

Children from across Cannock Chase District were in for a treat this month when they were invited to their local theatre to see a special performance of Binworld.

Binworld is a place where people do not think to consider others. The litterbug within every person has got out and together, they will continue to destroy any attempt to clean up this planet.

The 2022/23 waste and recycling calendars are on their way to residents in Cannock Chase.  

The calendars are being distributed to over 45,000 households in the District over the next few weeks.  The calendars, which detail collection dates for the green, blue and brown bins, also include information about what can and can’t go in your bins.

Two Staffordshire councils are looking to share their top teams in a move aimed at saving taxpayers’ money and improving services.

The proposed move is the first stage in sharing more services between Cannock Chase District Council and Stafford Borough Council.

But leaders of both local authorities stress that the councils will maintain their individual identities - meaning elected members will still be in control of decision making for their respective councils.

Cannock Chase Council is urging football fans to ‘show domestic abuse the red card’ with the start of the World Cup this week. 

Previous national research has shown that incidents of domestic abuse can rise when England play in a tournament, so the Council has teamed up with partners from the local Community Safety Partnership to deliver some important messages.

With the first football game kicking off this weekend, people will be watching the games from their local pub or home. This could increase tensions within households, resulting in incidences of domestic abuse.

The Council’s Cabinet agreed at their meeting last night to start the bid application to the English Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), which will see tennis courts across the District refurbished.

This will allow for the 13 full size and 4 junior tennis courts owned by Cannock Chase Council to be refurbished using funding from the Lawn Tennis Association and a contribution from the Council’s capital programme following the development of land across the District.  

Cannock Chase Council have partnered with Victim Support Harmony Unit and Rugeley Police to launch a new initiative, which aims to help victims of anti-social behaviour (ASB) this winter.

The new project which launched this week will focus on Rugeley in the run up to Christmas and will see representatives from the Council, Victim Support Harmony Unit and Rugeley Police will be engaging with the public and business owners, to assess if they are having any issues with ASB.

Cannock Chase Council are consulting on the proposed revocation of air quality management areas in the District.

The Council has a duty to monitor and improve local air quality. Between 2006 - 2017, the Council identified three areas where air quality failed to meet legal standards. The Council subsequently declared these areas to be 'Air Quality Management Areas' (AQMAs). 

Nearly three months on from the Commonwealth Games mountain biking event at Cannock Chase Forest, local organisations are calling on mountain bikers to respect this well-loved landscape as more cyclists head to its forest and heaths to take a ride.

Forestry England, working with Cannock Chase Council and Birmingham 2022, hosted the event back in August at Cannock Chase Forest. There has been an increase in cyclists riding on the Chase since the intermediate level Perry’s trail was launched in May that formed part of the Games’ trail.
