Discussions are taking place with local Cannock Chase groups interested in taking on the district’s Prince of Wales Theatre and museum.

Cannock Chase Council leader, Tony Johnson, revealed he has been leading talks on the theatre and Museum of Cannock Chase with ‘interested parties’ following feedback from the consultation that closed earlier this month.

Over £156,000 invested in safety improvements in Cannock Park

In a continued effort to enhance public safety and reduce anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the local community, a significant investment of £156,400 has been made in safety improvements at Cannock Park.

The funding, which comes from multiple sources, will support a range of initiatives aimed at protecting park-goers and addressing issues related to crime and ASB.


£6m nursing home for adults with complex needs nearing completion

Cabinet members from Cannock Chase Council recently visited the site of the new £6 million Coronation Court nursing home, which is set to open in early 2025.

Built on the site of the former Avon Road car park, the 33-bedroom facility is designed to provide specialist care for adults with complex needs, including those living with brain injuries, dementia, mental health conditions, neuro-disabilities, and physical disabilities.

Cannock Chase Council is pleased to announce that the Cannock Chase Local Plan 2018-2040, along with its accompanying Policies Map, has been formally submitted to the Secretary of State.

This marks a significant milestone in the development of the new Local Plan, a comprehensive 15-year strategy to meet the district’s housing, employment, and development needs.

Helping residents stay safe this Christmas

The Council has introduced initiatives to ensure residents' safety during the festive season, thanks to funding received from the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner.

Drink spiking strips have been provided to venues across the district, who are members of Cannock and Rugeley Pubwatch.  Spiking is when someone puts alcohol or drugs into another person’s drink, or their body, without their knowledge or consent. It can be difficult to tell if your drink has been spiked by taste or smell. The substances used can be colourless and odourless.


Stay alert to purse theft this Christmas

To help prevent purse thefts across the district purse charms have been made available for residents in the district this winter.

Funded by the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, via the Locality Deal Fund, the purse charms are designed to alert you if someone attempts to steal your purse or wallet. Known as "purse dipping," this type of theft often occurs in busy areas such as town centres, shops, and public spaces.

Work starts on improvements to Chadsmoor High Street

Work has started on environmental improvements on Chadsmoor High Street this week.  

Improvements include repainting bollards and bins, lampposts, bike stands within Chadsmoor War Memorial and car park; installing additional planters; a new ‘Welcome to Chadsmoor’ signs; clean-up of pavement areas; remarking the car park on the corner of Burns Street and Cannock Road; and installation of a memorial bench.
