Colin Morgan aged 52 from Highland Road in Cannock, has been found guilty of breaching his Community Protection Notice (CPN) for street drinking in Cannock town centre.

Mr Morgan appeared in Cannock Magistrates Court on 16 September after pleading guilty to the offence of breaching his CPN and for assaulting a police officer. He was fined £620 court costs, £160 for the offences and £30 victim surcharge.

Cannock Chase Council’s Cannock Town Centre Development Prospectus launch event in October is now fully booked.

Over 40 potential investors and developers have reserved their place and will get a chance to see the exciting development opportunities that have been identified in Cannock town centre.

The event takes place on Tuesday 1 October at The Premier Suite in Cannock, where guest speakers will be explaining the importance of place in driving economic growth and why other developers are investing in Cannock and to formally launch the Development Prospectus.

A Local Government Association Corporate Peer Challenge has concluded in its final report that Cannock Chase Council “appears more confident than in 2016, with the cloud of an uncertain future resulting from the news of the closure of Rugeley Power Station now lifted”.

Cannock Chase Council’s Cabinet have given the go-ahead for a consultation in relation to the indoor market in Cannock.

The public consultation will ask market traders and local people to have their say on the future of the indoor market in Cannock.

The indoor market has struggled in recent years with a decline in the number of traders and footfall and the Council is keen to increase the vibrancy of the town centre. Therefore, the Council needs to look at alternative options for the indoor market.

Cannock Chase Council has removed the boardwalk in Rugeley Town Centre for Health and Safety reasons.

The boardwalk between Brook Square and Albion Street was closed in October 2018 on safety grounds and has remained closed until this time.

In early 2019 the Council appointed consultants to conduct a survey on the boardwalk, the survey results showed that the structure was unsafe and beyond repair.

Cannock Chase Council is launching its Town Centre Development Prospectus to potential private sector investors and developers at a special event next month.

The breakfast event will be held at the Premier Suite in Cannock on Tuesday 1 October from 8:30am until 10am.

Cannock Chase Council is giving its full backing to the HS2 rail project following the Government`s announcement of the Oakervee Review, led by former HS2 Chairman Douglas Oakervee.

Cannock Chase Council has successfully prosecuted a Rugeley man following the discovery of an illegal puppy farm in Rugeley last year.

Kevin Bramwell aged 62 from Leathermill Lane in Rugeley appeared at Stafford Crown Court today (Thursday 29 August), following a guilty plea at a previous hearing. 

A public meeting will be held in Cannock on Monday to discuss current performance issues on the Chase Line which connects Rugeley, Hednesford and Cannock with Walsall and Birmingham.

Ongoing concerns about the reliability of rail services on the Chase Line from Rugeley Trent Valley to Birmingham New Street has prompted the Leader of Cannock Chase Council, Councillor George Adamson, to ask Council officers to call an urgent meeting of the Chase Line Stakeholders Group.

The group, chaired by Amanda Milling MP, comprises partners who have an interest in promoting and developing the Chase Line. It includes Cannock Chase councillors and officers, as well as representatives from Staffordshire County Council, Network Rail and service operator West Midlands Trains.
