Cannock Chase Council has successfully prosecuted three people for illegally evicting a tenant from her home in Rugeley.

Nigel Whorton from Lichfield, Jonathon Williams from Sutton Coldfield and Rebecca Brayshaw from Eccleshall were all found guilty of offences under the Protection from Eviction Act 1977, after depriving a tenant in Rugeley from occupation of her home and committing acts likely to interfere with her peace and comfort.

The Chase Community Safety Partnership is helping residents stay safe this Christmas with the launch of a new campaign ’12 days to a safer Christmas’.

The festive season can be a very busy time during which it’s easy to take your eye off the ball when it comes to crime prevention. The campaign will run from 5 December until 20 December and will remind people how to keep safe and within the law during the lead up to the festive period.

A lorry seized by the Council following its involvement in fly tipping is due to be auctioned next week. 

The lorry was seized by Environmental Health Officers within days of it being used to fly tip waste in the District in August 2019.  Although the driver ran from the vehicle at the time it was stopped, the offences continue to be investigated.

Three candidates will be contesting the Cannock Chase Parliamentary Constituency General Election on Thursday 12 December 2019.

The 2019/20 recycling calendars are on their way to residents in Cannock Chase. 

The new calendars will be distributed to over 43,500 households in the District over the next few weeks and include collection changes over the Christmas period.

The calendars which form part of an information booklet, include a recycling guide with easily understandable graphics of which item goes in which bin; in addition to collection times and requirements and maximum weight capacity for bins. 

As a lasting legacy to the World War 1 commemorative period, the Council in partnership with Inspiring healthy lifestyles has developed an educational toolkit which is available to access from the District`s official World War 1 website.

‘Cannock Chase Remembers’ not only gives visitors information on local campaigns and events commemorating World War 1, but also shares personal memories of wartime from family, friends and survivors.

Figures released by Sport England last month as part of its annual Active Lives survey show that Cannock Chase residents were both less `inactive` and more `active` in May 2018 – May 2019 than the year before.

The survey captures sport and physical activity levels among adults aged 16 and over. The results for Cannock Chase are based on 524 respondents.

Briefing session for candidates and agents UK Parliamentary General Election – 12 December, 2019 

Cannock Chase Council is holding a briefing session for candidates and agents in the upcoming UK Parliamentary General Election. 

The General Election is being held on Thursday 12 December, 2019. 

We will be holding a briefing session for Candidates and Agents at 5.00 pm on Thursday, 7 November, 2019 in the Council Chamber, Civic Offices, Beecroft Road, Cannock WS11 1BG.

Following an Order made by Cannock Magistrates Court on 11 October, the Council is now seeking permanent homes for dogs that were rescued from a house in Cannock on 7 October.   

A veterinary team and police officers joined officers from Cannock Chase Council’s Environmental Health Service on the raid, which resulted in 60 dogs being taken into the Council’s possession as they were suffering, or likely to suffer, if their circumstances did not change.
