If you’re aiming to round off the summer holidays with a Bank Holiday barbecue this weekend, Cannock Chase Council and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) have some good advice to keep you safe and help make it a success.

Burgers need to be fully cooked, this is because any harmful bacteria that may have been on the surface of the raw meat before mincing will be spread throughout the burger, and will not be killed if all parts of the burger aren’t fully cooked.

During August, as part of the annual canvass, every household in the Cannock Chase District will receive a form asking residents to check that the information about the people listed as living there is correct.

The aim of the canvass is to ensure that the electoral register is up to date and to identify any residents who are not currently registered, so that they can be encouraged to do so.

Are you a local business in the Cannock Chase District that would benefit from free advertising?

Cannock Chase Council has joined forces with South Staffordshire Council to bring the Good Life Deals app/website to Cannock Chase.

Local businesses no matter how big or small can advertise any special offers and discounts for free during the three month trial.

The app will be free to download and residents in Cannock Chase will soon be able to start taking advantage of offers and deals that local businesses have advertised.

Lots of fun had at Hednesford Festival

Over 5,000 people joined in the fun at Hednesford Festival on Saturday 13 August in Hednesford Park and Town Centre.

Hednesford Festival kicked off with a military walk – led by Hednesford Army Cadets and the Girls Venture Corps Air Cadets. Cadets and volunteers walked from Hednesford Park to Marquis Drive where they took part in a further walk around Brindley Heath Hospital site. This was a led walk sharing the history of the site and was hosted by Cannock Chase AONB and the Friends of Cannock Chase.

Former caravan park owner fined for sale blocking

Mr Briggs, the former owner of a caravan park in Cannock faces a bill of £14,525 in fines and costs after pleading guilty to sale blocking.

Mr Rodrick Briggs, of Briggs Park Homes pleaded guilty to providing false and misleading information and making false and misleading representations to the relatives of the owner of a residential caravan on the site, when he became too ill to live in it.

Cannock Chase Council in conjunction with its partner Biffa Municipal Ltd is launching their contamination campaign this week, warning residents if they put the wrong item in the blue bin, it won’t get emptied.

This campaign has been launched following a marked increased in the number of loads being rejected at the Council’s materials recycling facility as they contained unacceptable items/materials.

The Council is focusing on key items which have been regularly found in rejected loads of dry recycling; these are:

The old fashioned games are a big part of this Festival and form part of the events programme hosted by the Friends of Hednesford Park.

Staffordshire County Council has a deficit in their adult care budget of £15m in this financial year due to the lack of agreement between the County and the NHS over the level of financial contributions to the Better Care Fund (BCF).

BAC O’Connor, One Recovery and The Edward Myers Unit are the key providers of drug and alcohol treatment and recovery services for Staffordshire.

The Staffordshire County Council proposed reduction to the Drug and Alcohol budget is by more than 50%.
