A high court injunction order has been served on an operative and landowner of an unlawful waste site in Staffordshire – prohibiting them from importing or processing material there.

On Thursday 4 May 2017 voters in Cannock Chase will go to the polls to elect 7 County Councillors to the 6 electoral divisions covering the Cannock Chase District. 

The County Council is responsible for making decisions on running services such as education and learning; social care and health; libraries, museums and art galleries; transport and highways; tips and recycling centres; and registration of births, deaths and marriages; in the Cannock Chase area. 

Hednesford Park is celebrating its achievement in winning `Site of the Year` 2016 for its free tennis sessions.

It was officially announced last week by Tennis For Free (TFF) that Hednesford Park was a worthy winner of this award. Having delivered TFF sessions to 934 individuals in 2016, the park has been in the top two ranking positions throughout last year.

The `Site of the Year` award is given out by Tennis For Free, who are a registered charity that was set up 2004 to address the barriers for participation in tennis.

Cannock Chase Council has published its recent consultation on the draft Pavement Café Licence and Commercial Obstructions Policy 2017 and will be seeking the views of interested parties that may be affected by the policy.

A Council worker from Cannock Chase Council`s Street Cleansing Team has been injured whilst removing illegally dumped waste from a fly tipping site near Norton Canes.

The load of approximately 2.5 tonnes of waste had been illegally dumped at the site from what appeared to have been a large van or lorry.

The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme rates food businesses on their hygiene standards, based on inspections carried out by local authority food safety officers. Businesses are rated on a scale ranging from 0 which means ‘urgent improvement necessary’ to a top rating of 5 which is ‘very good’.       

Cannock Chase Council is encouraging all park users to enter its latest competition to name the new woodland sculptures in Hednesford Park.

In November 2016, essential tree works were carried out on the tree avenue where sixteen large, mature trees were felled. Some of these felled trees have been used and turned into stunning art pieces.

Robot Cossey, an artist from Wolverhampton who is well known for his timber sculptural works completed the sculptures last month. These now take pride of place in the park and include an owl, a lizard, a squirrel and a woodpecker.

Cannock Chase Council have been successful in securing a conviction after a Stoke man failed to assist Council officers in a fly tipping investigation.

Jordan Haywood 34, formerly of Park Road, Stoke on Trent appeared in Newcastle Magistrates Court on Friday 27 January after failing to respond to a Section 71 Notice.  Mr. Haywood failed to return the formal requisition for information regarding the involvement of his vehicle in a fly tipping incident.

Cannock Chase Council is asking local people to get involved with future development decisions and have their say in the local plan consultation.

The consultation runs from 31 January until 27 March and asks residents, employers, local organisations and others for input into two important documents which will set out future development and investment in the District in the future. 

Work is progressing on the renovation of the signal box located in Hednesford Park, which is set to become a community classroom.

The progress was seen this weekend when the carpenter temporarily removed the boards to reveal the work that has been going on over the last few months.
