Vigil at 7pm tonight in Cannock following the Manchester Bombing

There will be a vigil at 7 pm this evening at the top Bandstand in Cannock Town Centre, as mark of respect following the Manchester Bombing yesterday evening.

The vigil will be lead by Chairman of Cannock Chase Council, Zaphne Stretton and members of the local clergy will also be in attendance.

Local shoppers are being encouraged to go along to the relaunch event of Cannock Indoor Market Hall this Friday 19 May between 9am and 5pm.

Over the last few months, a number of improvements have been made to the market hall as well as increasing trading hours; these include making the old Hallmark shop a new entrance, four new market stalls will be constructed inside and the main market office has moved.

Residents and businesses across Cannock Chase District are being urged to help in the fight against illicit waste.

The call comes from a Staffordshire wide group, set up to address the issue of illicit waste, after a number of high risk sites were identified in the county. The group is made up of representatives from all of the local authorities, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, Staffordshire Police, the Environment Agency, the DVSA and Highways England.

The event will take place at Cannock Chase Council on Thursday 15 June from 9am-1pm.  The event organised by Stoke-on-Trent & Staffordshire Growth Hub and the Department for International Trade aims to help and support businesses who would like to sell their products or services abroad.

Cannock Chase Council supports campaign to increase breastfeeding rates

Cannock Chase Council is supporting a Public Health England campaign to help improve breastfeeding rates in the District.

The programme aims to help parents develop healthy behaviours and features a new interactive Breast Feeding Friend (BFF) Chat Bot.

The BFF is accessed through Facebook messenger and provides support for mothers at any time of the day or night to help make breastfeeding a better experience.

Cannock Chase in top 10% in UK for food hygiene performance

A recent Which? report has placed Cannock Chase in the top 10% of Districts in the UK for food hygiene performance.

Cannock Chase was ranked 30th out of 386 local authorities for food hygiene performance and is also the top performing District in Staffordshire and West Midlands.

Dementia Community Roadshow to visit Cannock and Hednesford

People living in Cannock Chase District will have the opportunity to put their questions to the experts and find out a little more about dementia next week as Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Community Roadshow rolls into town. The visit has been organised by Cannock Chase’s Dementia Action Alliance.

Cannock Chase Council thanks residents in the District for reducing contamination in the blue bin following a successful contamination campaign. 

The contamination campaign launched in Cannock Chase in August 2016 and was aimed at informing residents as well as reducing contamination in the blue bin.

The campaign focused on the key items which were often found to contaminate the blue bin.

More improvements for Hednesford Park

Users of Hednesford skate park have been treated to a teen shelter and lighting in the park thanks to funding received from the Police and Crime Commissioner’s People Power Fund.

The Friends of Hednesford Park were successful in securing £3K of funding in 2014.  The money has provided much needed lighting to the skate park and along tree avenue and a shelter for the skate park, all of which was installed last month.
