Cannock Chase Council has scooped an award for collaborative working, for the recently launched Good Life Deals app and has been high commended for the Let’s Grow Grant at a recent award ceremony.

The awards were handed out at the FSB Local Authority Awards ceremony last month hosted by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).

The next phase of tree removal in Hednesford Park will commence later this month, with some of the over mature popular and sycamore trees in Tree Avenue being removed.

This is essential management and part of the ongoing works to Hednesford Park following a Heritage Lottery Fund Grant which was received in 2012 for £2.2M.

Cannock Chase Council has successfully prosecuted a resident who sold and stored vehicles from his property.

Mr John Birch of Badgers Way, Heath Hayes pleaded guilty to the charge of non compliance with an Enforcement Notice under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990; at Newcastle Under Lyme Magistrates Court on Monday 3 October.

Mr Birch had been advertising cars for sale in the Autotrader between 27 April and 28 July, thereby operating a car sales business from his domestic premises.

Cannock Chase is ranked in the top 10 Districts in the country, when it comes to the proportion of businesses that pass food hygiene inspections, according to a recent Guardian report.

Cannock Chase Council, along with all other local authorities in England and Wales, participates in the National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.  This scheme provides consumers with information about hygiene standards in food premises, at the time they are inspected by local authority officers to check compliance with legal requirements.

Cannock Chase Council is proud to be a partner of The Staffordshire Business Festival, organised by the Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce. The 2 week festival will include over 60 events across the county and runs from Monday 7 November to Friday 18 November.

The festivals aim will be to facilitate better engagement between companies, organisations and business communities across Staffordshire.

Cannock Chase Council has announced the dates for its public consultation meetings.  These meetings aim to seek the opinions and views of residents, businesses and community groups on the future of Council services.

This follows the recent announcement that the Council faces a funding deficit that peaks at £2.15m in 2018/19 and the launch of the Council’s Financial Recovery Plan.

Council Officers and Elected Members will be in attendance at the meetings to discuss the Council’s position, the proposed options and suggestions from the public. 

Authorities are continuing to monitor a waste fire site in Slitting Mill after stacks were capped with soil.

Cannock Chase District Council, Staffordshire County Council and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service are conducting regular monitoring of Oak Tree Farm to ensure the site remains safe.

This includes air testing for asbestos, which has revealed no cause for concern. These results, coupled with the air quality monitoring results from Cannock Chase District Council, means that there are no discernible risks to public health.

Preece Burford Ltd, Zunsport Ltd and S4J Ltd have all secured ‘Let’s Grow Programme’ grant funding of up to £5,000 to help grow their businesses and create new jobs in the future.

Preece Burford Ltd, supplier of architectural ironmongery/hardware is using its grant to purchase a new piece of machinery, which will increase productivity and efficiency within the business.

Zunsport Ltd, Manufacturer and seller of automotive after market stainless steel car grilles is using its grant to make their website bi-lingual, increasing their markets to France and Germany.

Residents, Councillors, Council Officers and local businesses joined forces to help ‘Clean for the Queen’ this week in a community litter pick.

The clean up took place on Monday 26 September at the former Cannock Stadium site, which had been identified, due to the amount of litter in the area.  There were over 35 bags of rubbish collected, along with various other waste materials.

This initiative highlights the Council’s continuing commitment to support this national campaign to get residents helping to clean up their community.

The development of a new premium outlet shopping destination for the West Midlands moved a step closer this week as development partners U+I and Rioja Developments confirmed receipt of full planning permission.

The news follows on from Cannock Chase Council’s resolution to grant planning approval for a designer outlet village in December 2015 – a decision that was backed by Greg Clarke MP, the former Secretary of State for the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG).
