A new interactive walking trail celebrating Bridgtown’s rich history has officially launched, bringing stories of the past to life with QR codes, local creativity, and community spirit.

The Bridgtown Tales Trail was officially launched this month, offering residents and visitors the chance to explore the village through a fun and engaging route. Along the trail, explorers can find 8 QR codes, each revealing fascinating stories, facts and insights into Bridgtown’s unique heritage.

Cannock Chase Council and Cannock Police are re-launching popular bike marking events, to help prevent them being stolen. 

A by-election has been called for Thursday 7 August 2025 to elect a new representative for the Hednesford Green Heath Ward in Cannock Chase District. 

The Council Chamber in Cannock was buzzing with curiosity and purpose this week as local primary schoolchildren stepped up to ask their elected Councillors tough questions about climate change.

Children from Heath Hayes Academy visited Cannock Chase Council on Monday 30 June as part of an educational initiative aimed at encouraging youth engagement in environmental issues and local democracy. The pupils, aged 9 and 10 had the opportunity to sit in the seats of local councillors and present their own questions about climate action, sustainability, and the future of the planet.

Cannock Chase Council is pleased to announce that its Housing Reception will reopen to the public on Tuesday 1 July 2025.

The Housing Reception, located in the Housing Bungalow next to the Civic Centre, will be open to customers Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Services will be available to the public via walk-in visits or booked appointments.

Well-known actor Siân Reeves has been lighting up classrooms across the Cannock Chase District as part of the Great Imagining Staffordshire programme – and the response from students and teachers has been nothing short of fantastic!

Funded by Cannock Chase Council and The Great Imagining, the sessions are part of an exciting creative initiative designed to spark imagination, encourage sustainability thinking, and give young people a platform to express their ideas for a greener, fairer, and wiser future through live art, poetry, performance, and storytelling.

Construction has completed on a 33-bedroom care home in Cannock which will provide nursing care for adults living with complex needs.

Coronation Court is a nursing home for adults living with complex needs arising from brain injuries, dementia, mental health conditions, neuro-disabilities and physical disabilities.

Residents are now moving into the home, which is owned and operated by leading national healthcare provider Exemplar Health Care, after work was completed by Midlands-based Deeley Group.

A warning to check for hedgehogs has been added to grass cutting equipment by Cannock Chase Council. 

The local authority has teamed up with a hedgehog charity to reduce the chance of the prickly animals being injured or killed.

Stickers have been placed on strimmers used by the council as a reminder to check for the mammals before workers start cutting back grass and undergrowth. 

The sun is shining on Rugeley and Chase Leisure Centre as work to make the centres more energy efficient is completed.

At Chase Leisure Centre the 370, 94 kilo-watt per hour panels, will save money and the environment. Carbon Dioxide emissions will reduce annually by 24 tonnes and - at the end of the 25 year life span - the panels will have prevented 600 tonnes of CO2 reaching the atmosphere.

That’s the equivalent of planting 1,305 trees per year. They will also save £900,000 over the course of their lifespan in energy costs.

The demolition of Cannock’s outdated multi-storey car park (MSCP) is officially underway, marking a major step forward in the town centre’s regeneration. 

The car park which closed in 2019 is now being carefully dismantled following months of intensive preparatory work. Visible progress is now being made on site, as heavy machinery begins to bring down the decades-old structure level by level.
Whilst much of the progress isn’t visible from ground level, all three towers have now been removed, including the safe removal of asbestos located above the lift shaft.
