Cannock Chase Council is working closely with Staffordshire Police, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and local outreach workers to help young people stay safe and keep out of trouble this Halloween and Bonfire.

Halloween can be harmless fun but some members of the community can become distressed by unexpected trick or treaters. Part of a wider ‘Take Care and Be Aware’ initiative, young people are being encouraged to ‘Think – Be Aware Who You Scare’ and to follow the latest Covid guidelines this Halloween.

Council urges local retailers to sign up to free online platform to help boost sales

Cannock Chase Council is urging local retailers in the District to sign up to a new platform to sell their products and services online.

ShopAppy provides an online shop window where customers can browse, buy and collect or arrange home delivery of local products and services.

With the help of the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP), who are paying the cost of the subscriptions, independent retailers in the Cannock Chase District can get 12 months free subscription to this app.

Warning on Covid-19 for Cannock Chase District as Cases Surge

People across the Cannock Chase District are being urged to stick to the Covid-19 rules, after a surge in cases.

If cases continue to rise, people are being warned not only could more lives be put at risk, but the Government may step in and impose further restrictions.

In the seven days between October 10 and October 16 there has been a total of 180 cases.

District celebrates as six parks and green spaces win the Green Flag Award

Parks and green spaces across the country will be raising their Green Flag Award with pride in a year when millions of people have seen the value of having great quality green spaces on their doorstep.

Among them will be Cannock Park, Hednesford Park, Ravenhill Park, Elmore Park, Stile Cop Cemetery and Castle Ring which are raising a Green Flag Award. Castle Ring has also achieved the much-coveted Green Heritage Site Accreditation for its management of the historic features. The accreditation is supported by Historic England.

Council to review its Corporate Plan following pandemic

Cannock Chase Council is asking residents views on a new Corporate Plan for 2021-2024, which will set out the priorities and objectives for the District.

The current corporate plan runs from 2018-2023, however the Covid-19 pandemic has had such a profound impact on the Council and the District that is has been decided to review and replace the current plan.

The Council is proposing three priorities;

1. Supporting Economic Recovery

2. Supporting Heath and Wellbeing

3. Financially resilient District

Inspiring healthy lifestyles receives lifeline grant from Government’s £1.57bn Culture Recovery Fund

Inspiring healthy lifestyles which runs leisure and culture services on behalf of Cannock Chase District Council has been awarded £342k as part of the Governments £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund (CRF) to help face the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and ensure  a sustainable future for these services, the Culture Secretary has announced today.

The grant will be used to support the Museum of Cannock Chase, Prince of Wales Theatre and the Arts Development programme run by Inspiring healthy lifestyles.

Important Notice for Housing Self Serve Users

The Council has been working to improve the way its Housing Customers access Housing  information online. As part of an IT upgrade programme we will be replacing the current Housing Self Serve portal with a new improved Housing Online portal. In order to carry out this work it will mean the Housing Self Serve portal will not be available for a short period.

Alternative arrangements have been made until the new service is available. Information on the arrangements are set out below:

Council urges eligible residents to get vaccinated against flu this winter

Cannock Chase Council is calling on all eligible residents in Cannock Chase to get vaccinated against flu.

Flu is a serious condition that kills, on average, 11,000 people in England each year and hospitalises many more. Adults at high risk from flu are also most at risk from COVID-19. The free vaccine is more important than ever to help protect the nation from a double threat this winter.

This year, the programme is being expanded to help protect people from flu and ease pressure on the NHS and urgent care services.

Makeover of shutters in Cannock Town Centre now complete

A number of Council owned roller shutter doors in Cannock Town Centre have been transformed into works of art this summer, as part of a range of environmental improvements in and around the town centre.

Cannock Chase Council commissioned Neil Willis from Auniqueart to create the artworks on 14 shutters, including seven opposite St. Luke’s Church and seven on vacant shops by the Beecroft Road subway underpass.
