Community Wellbeing

Meet the Community Wellbeing Team

The Community Wellbeing Team work with a variety of organisations to help people in the district live healthier and happier lives.

As a service, we specialise in arts and creativity, heritage, physical activity and outdoor recreation. We develop and deliver community initiatives and champion these at a district and national level involving organisations such as Arts Council England, Support Staffordshire, National Landscapes, Together Active, as well as supporting strategic partnerships such as the Cannock Chase Can Network, Cannock Chase Cultural Compact, Cannock Chase Arts Council, and Better Health Staffordshire.

We proactively support community organisations and clubs, and for over 20 years we have generated innovative and award-winning partnership projects and activities, involving the very communities we aim to benefit.

Below are a few examples of what you can get involved in and enjoy which help to improve the quality of local life.
To find out more about what we’re up to, don’t forget to follow us on Facebook (link to page) for updates, news, and community wellbeing activities.

Chase Fit

Chase Fit is a long-established and award-winning free scheme which inspires people to be active in our local green spaces, including parks and Cannock Chase Forest. It’s fun, friendly, and fully inclusive. Whether it’s walking groups, gardening sessions, running clubs, cycling routes or self-led activities, Chase Fit makes it easier to find green social exercise opportunities on your doorstep. Led by the team, partners organisations and its dedicated volunteers, those who attend not only get fitter and get the feel-good factor, they make long lasting friendships too!

Cannock Chase Can

If you’re looking for a friendly boost in your wellbeing journey, Cannock Chase Can is a great place to start. The free app helps you set personal goals and discover lots of simple ways to improve your health — from moving more and eating well to sleep, budgeting and emotional wellbeing. You can also take part in fun community challenges, either as an individual or with friends and family, making healthy habits feel much more enjoyable.

Creative Chase

Creative Chase is your gateway to arts, culture, and heritage across Cannock Chase. From performances at Rugeley Rose Theatre to events in libraries and heritage sites across the district, Creative Chase brings together everything you need to explore, enjoy, and get involved in the cultural life of the area.

As part of the Cannock Chase Cultural Compact, Creative Chase connects local organisations, community groups, and residents to ensure that arts, culture, and heritage are accessible, vibrant, and inclusive for everyone.

Creative Chase provides the resources, information, and inspiration to discover what’s happening in Cannock Chase and how you can be part of it.

Cannock Chase Collections

The Cannock Chase Collections – is the districts publicly donated collection of images and objects, which celebrate and commemorate our local heritage and its fascinating social, industrial and military history. The Collections are used to inspire educational offers, local exhibitions and bring history to life through podcasts, and are the foundation to motivate anything from poetry to performances.

With support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund in 2023-25, it has enabled the collection to be reached digitally across the world. Through the online research and cataloguing tool (Axiell), it helps people connect with Cannock Chase’s identity and discover the stories that shaped the place we call home.

Cannock Chase Cultural Compact

Cannock Chase Cultural Compact aims to strengthen access to arts, culture and heritage across the district, supporting opportunities for local people to engage with high-quality, diverse creative activity.

The Compact brings together partners from across sectors — including education, health and wellbeing, local government, and the voluntary sector — to share expertise, understand local need and coordinate a joined-up approach to culture in Cannock Chase.

Through partnership working, the Compact supports a resilient and inclusive cultural ecology, ensuring that arts, culture and heritage continue to play an important role in the wellbeing, identity and future development of the area.
